What is 'Change the World in 5 Minutes'?
It started with an open call for short films. The nine finalists - crossing animation, drama, documentary, graphics, music and advertising - were selected for their positive, encouraging standpoints.
These films were then put online and served as the basis of an interactive website in an attempt to encourage real world actions in the spirit of Change The World in 5 Minutes.

What are the requirements?
Creating a video is easy and achievable by people of all skill levels. Your video can be as simple as a 10 second point and shoot clip with no titles, edits or credits… or a complete production of up to 10 minutes.
There are some very basic things that you should be mindful of before producing your video. You must own and control all rights to the video, including all underlying rights such as in the music which includes permission from anyone appearing in the video.
Videos may not contain advertising, nudity, profanity, obscene language or gestures or any depiction of real or simulated sexual acts, violence or any actual illegal acts or written descriptions thereof.
Videos may not contain any material that is defamatory or in breach of any law or derogatory references to SBS or any affiliated entity or person thereof or any announced promotional partners.

For best results, we recommend your video be shot in widescreen format (16:9 ratio) to fit the Change the World video player, however we’ll also accept video submitted in 4:3.
Please ensure that your submitted widescreen video is no smaller than 400 pixels wide by 225 pixels tall. Videos submitted as 4:3 should be no smaller than 281 pixels wide by 225 pixels tall. Leaving your video in its native size is always your safest bet!

You can upload any of the following file types: 3GP & 3G2, ASF, AVI (incl. DIVX), MPG, MPEG2, MPEG4, MOV and WMV.
What can I use to shoot my video?
You'll require a digital camcorder that captures in Digital8, MiniDV, HDV, or any of the DVD formats and has a FireWire or USB port to transfer the video to your computer.
Alternatively you can use a Web Cam, Digital Camera or Mobile phone. Most of these devices have the option to record compatible formats such as .MPG or .AVI.
How do I edit my video?
If you decide to edit your video, most computers come with basic video-editing software installed. (Windows MovieMaker on PCs and iMovie on Macs). For more advanced users we recommend using Adobe Premiere on PCs and Final Cut Pro for Macs.
Exporting your video for upload
To ensure the highest video quality, it's recommended that users export their video at the highest quality the 100MB upload limit will allow.
Below are two suggested export settings for Microsoft Movie Maker and iMovie
Windows Movie Maker
1. Once you have finished your video, use File > Save Movie File (Ctrl + P).
2. Select 'My computer', and then click Next.
3. Choose a title for your movie and a destination, and then click Next.
4. Then click the Show more choices link.
5. We recommend exporting as 'Video for broadband (512 Kbps)'. However you may need to adjust these settings to reduce the movie's file size.
iMovie
1. When you complete your video use Share> Quicktime to bring up the export dialog.
2. Select the QuickTime icon from the top menu.
3. Set the Compress movie menu for: CD-ROM.
4. Press the share button.
5. Once you press Share, the "Save As" dialogue will pop up.
6. Name your movie and click SAVE.

Music can be used in your video as long as you have permission from the copyright owner. This usually excludes commercial music due to the high cost involved. Alternatively you can create your own music or search online for music in the public domain.
